This is a Basic 30 hour training course and will not count as an update. This Session´s Participants will: understand the characteristics of gifted and talented students and the influence of these characteristics on instructional strategies used in classrooms for the gifted and talented, design lessons within and across disciplines that teach strategies for nurturing creative and critical thinking in the gifted and talented students, or adapt the classroom to the learning differences of each gifted and talented learner including the management of large and small groups and independent learning. 19 TAC §89.2(1)
*GT: Nature and Needs of the Gifted Learner
Learn to identify characteristics of gifted students; examine the concept of giftedness and create awareness about the nature of being gifted. Participants will learn: basic terminology, current definitions, theories, and models of giftedness, identify characteristics of under-represented groups of GT students and talented and learn to create an environment in which gifted and talented students feel challenged and safe to explore and express their uniqueness. 19 TAC �89.2(1)
*GT: Understanding Twice Exceptional (GT and SpEd) Kids
Visit the showroom for the Twice Exceptional Students - In this session the strengths, weakness and characteristics of twice exceptional students will be explored. Tried and true strategies will be shared with participants. This counts for a six hour update.
