Swapping Stories
Audience: Teachers of grades 3-12
In this workshop, teachers learn ways to help students learn literary structure, acting, listening and speaking skills through an intergenerational, intercultural story telling exchange called Swapping Stories. Participants share their stories with a partner in artful storytelling and deepen their empathy as they assume the role of another in telling a story. Careful preparation for this story exchange hones listening, speaking, and visualization skills and is a successful tool for motivation. The workshop activities relate to language arts and drama/theater.
