           Bernstein Artful Learning Levels 1, 2, and Teacher Leader

Target Audience: Comeaux High School core faculty
Intensive week long workshop for OCHS faculty for arts integration/Berstein Artful Learning levels 1 and 2 training. Workshop provided guidance on arts integration development and implementation, and also core teacher leader training as part of the Academy for Visuals and Applied Arts ongoing arts integration model development.

Brenda David and the teachers who attended the Differentiated Instruction Management Conference will present differentiated instruction management strategies for teachers to implement in the classroom. Brenda Wells will present an inservice on Rigby´s Fluent Reader in order for teachers use the software program in the classroom. The remaining time will be spent in grade level collaborative planning.

Teachers in grades 3-5 will become familiar with the components of guided reading and literacy work stations.

Get everything you need to teach Keystone and have fun while you do it. Explore the curriculum, do some activities and learn how to teach them. Get tips for ensuring that Keystone is effective and engaging. Stipend will be paid.
           Moving Ways to Read and Write about Images in West Africa
Audience: Teachers of grades 3-8

In this workshop teachers explore West African culture through its textile art. Using the Kente cloth patterns and Adrinka symbols based on proverbs and attributes for which the cultures strive, teachers will learn to guide students´ exploration of patterns and symbols through creative movement and writing. After the guided explorations, they learn ways to combine movement and writing into a culminating performance piece. This workshop connects to the social studies curriculum in learning about a culture and learning to work cooperatively, to the Language Arts curriculum through writing about one´s interpretations and experiences, and it also connects to national and state standards for dance education.

Audience: Credit Recovery Teachers

This workshop is designed for high school teachers directly involved in the implementation of the Credit Recovery program. This training will provide opportunities for teachers to work with the comprehensive, online courseware system which is standards based and interactive.

           Roots3 Initial Training - SFA

Target Audience: Teachers assigned to teach Roots3
This two-day training is for teachers who are new to Success for All to learn the instructional model (Roots3) and increase knowledge of reading, including the NCLB-required areas of reading instruction, examining desired outcomes for each area of reading, learning how the curriculum leads to the desired student outcomes, experiencing how to teach the curriculum, and understanding how to assess student progress and how to use that information to adjust instruction.
           RtI - ´Do the Math´ training
Audience: RtI Interventionists/tutors/SBLC members

"Do the Math" training will be provided for RtI Interventionists and other individuals at the elementary level who are responsible for implementing interventions in math at the Tier II and/or Tier III levels. Three hours of training are required, choose a. m. or p. m.

           Swapping Stories
Audience: Teachers of grades 3-12

In this workshop, teachers learn ways to help students learn literary structure, acting, listening and speaking skills through an intergenerational, intercultural story telling exchange called Swapping Stories. Participants share their stories with a partner in artful storytelling and deepen their empathy as they assume the role of another in telling a story. Careful preparation for this story exchange hones listening, speaking, and visualization skills and is a successful tool for motivation. The workshop activities relate to language arts and drama/theater.
           Targeted Treasure Hunt Initial Training - SFA

Target Audience: Teachers Grades 2-5 assigned to teach Wings

           Trend Data Analysis
Audience: School Improvement Chairpersons

Participants will appreciate the importance of data collection, understanding how trend data and LANA/SIP interface, calculate and analyze their school´s trend data and prepare the data to share with all stake holders.
