START Intensive Training Series (2009-10)

Please note: Registration for this training series is by invitation only to pre-identified LISD and local district staff from Lenawee, Branch, Calhoun, Hillsdale and Jackson Counties. Please contact your supervisor for more information.

This six-day training series is designed to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and strategies regarding working with individuals who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Multi-disciplinary teams are selected to focus upon a particular student with ASD. The team will participate in module trainings which support the philosophies of the Statewide Autism Resources and Training (START). The mission of the intensive training is to give professionals and parents the knowledge and skills to support individuals with autism spectrum disorder in reaching their greatest potential.

Four training modules will be taught in the six days:

  • Module 1: Building Foundations: Understanding Autism and the Universal Supports
  • Module 2: Educational Strategies
  • Module 3: Peer-to-Peer Supports
  • Module 4: Behavior Supports for Students with ASD

NOTE: You only have to register once to register for all 6 days of the series.
