Pre-K and PPCD Teachers Subcategory

      Early Childhood Paraprofessionals Inservice
Paraprofessionals working in PK & PPCD classrooms will have opportunities to learn about developmentally appropriate practices & strategies for supporting EC teachers guide childrenīs learning. Paraprofessionals in the LHS (excluding LJJECC) & FMHS zones are invited to sign up for August 18th. Paraprofessionals at LJJECC & those in the HHS, MHS & TCHS zones are invited to sign up for August 19th.
      Early Childhood Professional Learning Community-Assessment
Staff will work on assessments for Pre-Kindergarten on 2009-10
      Estrellita for Pre-K
The Estrellita Program provides a fun and engaging way to teach Spanish sounds in context. It is by no means a replacement of the current LISD Language Arts Curriculum. Itīs purpose is to supplement the resources available to you in the classroom. Teachers will recieve training on how to apply Estrellita in the classroom and adapt the program to their specific grade level and studentsī instructional needs. A pacing guide will aldo be provided.
      Kindergarten Science Curriculum [A]
Staff will develop curriculum to incorporate the new science TEKS for kindergarten. This session is for district curriculum writers only.

Participants will gain a theoretical framework of Co-teach settings in a Pre-K setting.
      MUSIC & MOVEMENT FOR PRE-K/PPCD
PARTICIPANTS WILL GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF THE POWER OF MUSIC & MOVEMENT IN PROMOTING LEARNING IN YOUNG CHILDREN. NUMEROUS ACTIVITIES AND SOME MATERIALS PROVIDED FOR CLASSROOM USE
      New PreK Guidelines & Curriculum Orientation
Participants will study the new TEA Prekindergarten Guidelines that are to be taught in pre-k and PPCD for the 09-10 school year. In addition, the participants will work with drafts of the new LISD prek curriculum.
      PreK/PPCD Curriculum [A]
Staff will continue to develop and revise PreK/PPCD Curriculum. Sessions are limited to district curriculum writers.
      PreKindergarten Curriculum Development
For curriculum writing team only. Participants will develop curriculum based on new PreK Guidelines.
