These modules are focused on algebraic concepts that are part of the Algebra I Comprehensive Curriculum and are designed to provide teachers with high quality professional development focused on improving instruction in the Algebra I learning environment and to promote student success on the Algebra I End-of-Course Exam.

Prior to registering for the modules, teachers are strongly encouraged to take a pre-assessment. The pre-assessment consists of 22 problems requiring approximately 15 minutes to complete.            Region 1 TLTC - ActivClassroom Inspire Training
Join us for a Promethean-Certified, Training Course designed especially for users of Promethean’s new software, ActivInspire! Participants must have an Activboard in their classroom. The training is designed to teach participants how to find prepared online resources as well as how to create basic flipcharts using the ActivInspire tools and browsers. Training is interactive with an emphasis on hands-on activities as well as discussion of pedagogy and best practices.
           Region 1 TLTC - Promethean Whiteboard Basics - Deckbar
This workshop is at Deckbar and for Deckbar teachers only. This workshop will focus on incorporating the Promethean interactive whiteboard to engage learners. Participants will explore the ActivStudio interface, learn to use the basic tools, become familiar with available resources and register on Promethean Planet.

This training session will focus on integrating audio podcasting into the curriculum using Audacity, a free, easy- to- use audio editor and recorder for Windows and Mac OS X. Audacity is a popular Open Source tool for creating and editing podcasts; it is freely available to download, install and modify, and is relatively easy to use. Participants will use Audacity to: • Record live audio; • Cut, Copy and Paste, Delete, Duplicate, and Split audio files; • Change the speed, pitch or volume of a recording; • Apply effects to any part of the sound; • Align audio segments.

           Region 2 TLTC- Technology Boot Camp for Beginners [A]

Podcasting! Everybody seems to be doing it. If you´ve been afraid to jump into the podcasting waters, learn how easy it can be! This session will address the types of podcasts and how to use them in the classroom. Participants will create a short audio podcast using Audacity and other free technology tools.

Increase student engagement as you use your Promethean board by using containers and restrictors. Learn how to create containers and restrictors and have time to add them to a flipchart while help is available. This session is for those who plan to redeliver the Essentials training in their own school district. Upon completion participants will be able to set up classes and redeliver as needed. *Completion of this class is also required to be an instructor for the new Project Based Learning online training (Elements).

           Region 8 Inspiration 8.0 Activities for the Curriculum [A]
Learn how to use Inspiration software to integrate thinking skills, brainstorming and concept mapping techniques that allow students to organize information and develop concepts. Participants will receive a FREE book: Inspiration Simple Projects + CD with a variety of templates.
