This class will focus on reading books related to social studies topics. We will meet monthly to discuss the books and issues surrounding the topic as well as how to implement reading into a social studies classroom. The books selected are listed below.

November 5, 2009 The Guernsey Ladies Potato Peel Pie Literary Society, by Mary Ann Sha & Annie Barrows
January 7, 2010 The Long Walk to Freedom, by Nelson Mandela (600+ pages)
February 4, 2010 Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust, by Immaculee Ilibagiza (200 pages)
March 4, 2010 Own choice of adolescent or children historical fiction.
April 1, 2010 From Beirut to Jerusalem, by Thomas L. Friedman (500+ pages)
