Reading Strategies for TA for student support

This workshop is designed to review the five basic components of reading:
phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Participants will hear about what the researchers recommend and have an opportunity to be involved in hands on activities to strengthen understanding and provide ideas for the classroom. Paraprofessionals that took the four strands of Beginning Reading a few years ago will also benefit. This will be a review and will have some new activities that can be utilized in the classroom. Based on AFT/ER&D Beginning Reading Instruction training module.
