Selective Mutism
Selective Mutism occurs in 1 in 100 children and has become more common in the classroom environment. Children affected by Selective Mutism cannot speak and have difficulty socializing and communicating in select settings such as school, despite the ability to speak and communicate when comfortable, such as at home. This course will define what Selective Mutism is and provide you with a list of do’s and don’t when working with children with this disability. It will also use case studies to show techniques that have been successful in helping children with disability to learn how to communicate within the classroom setting.
