Helping Struggling Readers Comprehend Science
|
This session introduces teachers to many reading comprehension strategies that students can use to make sense of science texts and articles. This workshop presents the Ingham ISD toolkit of reading and thinking strategies for high school and middle school science classes. This toolkit assists teachers as they help struggling readers get the most out of textbook narratives and science articles. These strategies build on what students have already learned in English classes. Facilitators: Amy Kilbridge, IISD secondary English language arts consultant and Theron Blakeslee, IISD mathematics and science consultant.
Audience: secondary high school science teachers.
