Educational Strategies for Students with Austism Spectrum Disorders 2009-2010
This Statewide Autism Resources and Training (START) module will teach participants to use educational strategies that build upon strengths of the student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Appropriate educational supports for students with ASD will be defined including: effective behavioral systems, visual strategies, paraprofessional support, functional communication systems, team process, and peer-to-peer support. Participants will learn to develop age appropriate curriculum and build on strengths and skills of students with ASD through appropriate educational activities. They will also learn to appropriately accommodate and modify curriculum. Transition needs relevant to students with ASD will be addressed. Workshops will be held at Eaton ISD.
