S/WEA-Rigor and Relevance and the Rounds Model of Professional Development - 800325
Session: 6222 Description: Adopted from the Clark University Teacher Education program, the Rounds Model of Professional Development is based on medical school rounds and adapted for use in education. The model requires a teacher to prepare background information about the lesson and class dynamics prior to hosting a group of visiting teachers in his or her classroom. The visit is followed by a reflective dialogue among the participants focused on student learning. Discussion of rigor and relevance in student work is a part of our focus of the Rounds visits. Target Audience: Weaver Education Staff Learner Outcomes: • Learn to foster dialogue linking educational theory and practice • Learn to promote reflective and productive dialogue on teaching practice • Learn to build a professional learning community based on shared practice • Learn to build a professional learning community focused on understanding and enhancing the teaching-learning process • To facilitate awareness of rigor and relevance in student work Prerequisite: None |
