Description: Participants will focus on goals 2 and 4 of the North Carolina SCS. Teacher colleagues will share best practices used to develop the algebraic concepts graphically, verbally, and symbolically to ensure success.
Target Audience: Algebra I teachers
Learner Outcomes: As a result of this course, the participant will
1) Participants will be able to differentiate instruction to develop the concepts of goal
2- 2.01 find the lengths and midpoints of segments to solve problems; 2.02 Use
the parallelism or perpendicularity of lines and segments to solve problems.
2)Participants will be able emphasize a mutirepresentational approach to linear
functions and inequalities including systems of equations. a) Solve using tables,
graphs, and algebraic properties. b) Interpret constants and coefficients in the
context of the problem.
3) Participants will be able to relate and model quadratic, exponential, and linear
functions.
