           21st Century CPR/First Aid Training
CPR and First Aid training offered specifically for 21st Century staff.
           Aggressors, Victims & Bystanders for Middle School Educators [A]
This is a middle school (grades 6-9) curriculum developed to meet the needs of urban students in communities that put them at high risk for involvement with violence. 12 lessons provide knowledge and skills that enable students to resolve conflict without violence. Participants receive a teacher manual, student handouts and transparencies.
           CPR Training 08/09 [A]
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Training. Learn one person rescue techniques for cardiac arrest and choking victims. Booklets and certificates provided.
           First Aid 08/09 [A]
This class will train participants to overcome reluctance to act in emergency situations & to recognize & care for emergencies such as respiratory, sudden illness, & injury. Book & card will be provided.
           HIV/AIDS for K-12 Educators [A]
This is for any K-12 educator who teaches HIV/AIDS. All who teach HIV/AIDS must have this certificate training. Topics include the law, best practices, epidemiology, curriculum, answering questions, resources, etc.
           MI Model Grades 2 & 3 [A]
The revised MI Model for Health: Grade 2 has 18 lessons and the Grade 3 curriculum includes 25 lessons covering: social & emotional health, nutrition & physical activity, safety, alcohol, tobacco & other drugs, personal health & wellness. Also included is an overview of the new curriculum including resources.
           MI Model Grades 4 & 5 [A]
Michigan Model for Health Grade 4 has 25 lessons and the Grade 5 curriculum includes 30 lessons covering: social & emotional health, nutrition & physical activity, safety, alcohol, tobacco & other drugs, personal health & wellness. Also included is an overview of the new curriculum including resources.
           MI Model High School (All Modules) [A]
All of the Michigan Model for High School modules will be provided with a brief overview of each.
           MI Model Middle School (All Modules) [A]
All of the Michigan Model for Middle School modules will be provided with a brief overview of each.
           Peer Mediation for Grades 3-8 [A]
This program that has been shown to enhance school climate, reduce tensions, decrease suspensions and expulsions, and potentially improve academic performance. Other course objectives include: understanding conflict, effective communication skills, peer mediation process and program implementation.
           RtI for MS and HS
RtI for Middle School and High School: Strengthening the Problem-Solving Team and Selecting Effective Interventions


The engine that drives strong RTI programs at middle and high schools is the Problem-Solving Team. This workshop will provide secondary schools with a format to develop problem-solving teams, and ways to enhance their functioning and effectiveness. The training will also review a series of academic and behavioral interventions suitable for use by any content-area teacher and will offer ideas for struggling students. Participants will learn about free intervention resources available online for secondary schools.

Team registration encouraged, although, not required. This is NOT a repeat of RtI presentations sponsored by GISD in December 2009 at the Genesys Conference Center in Grand Blanc.
           Sexuality Training for Grade 4-12 Educators [A]
Developed for sexuality educators specifically grades 4-12. Participants receive a certificate. Topics covered over two day include: law, best practices, the latest research and trends, teaching strategies that focus on puberty, personal safety, friendships, systems, answering student questions, curriculum options and resources.
