Michigan Model for Health® Event for Grade 7-12, Regional
Audience:
All ninth-twelfth grade Teachers

Course Narrative:
The Regional Health Training group is trying something new this year. This workshop will focus on all the ninth through twelfth grade health themes in the Michigan Model, including the Tobacco Module, Nutrition, Physical Activity, Substance Abuse, Violence, and more.

Course Objective:
Participants will:

  • Connect the implementation of school health education to Michigan’s Merit Curriculum Guidelines for Health Education
  • Create an understanding of philosophy and goals of the Michigan Model.
  • Develop a comfort level for using the curriculum manual.
  • Disseminate current and accurate health content knowledge.
  • Preview instructional materials used in the curriculum.

  • Building Character in Ourselves and Our Schools
  • Building Character Through Service Learning
  • Don´t Bet on It!
  • Healthy and Responsible Relationships
  • Help Yourself to Good Nutrition
  • Managing Conflicts and Preventing Violence
  • Managing Life in a Less-Than-Perfect World (Alt. Ed programs)
  • Staying Physically Active for Life
  • Teens Campaign Against Tobacco
  • Teens Voice Solutions to Alcohol

Credit:
SB-CEUs or SVSU available, pending application approval
