Michigan Model for Health


Teachers who have not been trained or previously completed Michigan Model training in the previous version of the curriculum, may attend the the new curriculum training. The Michigan Model for Health is organized into six topical strands: Social & Emotional Health; Nutrition and Physical Activity; Safety; Alcohol, Tobacco, & Other Drugs; Personal Health & Wellness, HIV (district approval required)

Participants will:
  • Create an understanding of philosophy and goals of the revised Model for Health
  • Examine the newly revised grade level manual and materials
  • Disseminate current health content information; particularly in the area of nutrition
  • Develop a comfort level for using the revised curriculum manual
  • Preview instructional materials used in the curriculum
  • Connect the implementation of school health education across Michigan’s core content areas


  • Note: Registration fee for SPLASH participants is covered by the nutrition grant.
