Six Traits Writing Workshop K-8 (Oct. 09)
Back by Request: 6+1 Traits of Writing: The Complete Guide will be the center of this workshop. Each participant will receive a copy of the book by Ruth Culham and will be taken through each trait gaining common language of each trait and specific lessons to teach in the classroom. Time will also be given to collaborate with other educators with the same concerns in writing instruction. We will discuss pieces of the writing workshop and how to implement the six traits into your current writing curriculum. Lucy Calkins materials and Anita Kepley’s binder will also be integrated. Teachers will leave with common writing traits language, grade specific writing lessons, ways to organize a writers workshop, rubrics to guide your instruction, websites for further lessons, and Ruth Culham’s book as a fantastic resource.
