           Collaborative Dialogue for ELA Teachers
Join us for great food and professional conversation! The ELA collaborative team is participating in a book study this year and the October discussion will center on Malcolm Gladwell´s Outliers. We think you will enjoy the theme and encourage you to complete the reading before the October meeting.

           Collaborative Dialogue For Fine Arts Teachers 09
Fine Arts teachers from area schools, Mid-Michigan Community College and Central Michigan University are invited to participate in this discussion/work group. Teachers will share best practices and enjoy an evening of professional development and conversation with colleagues.
           Collaborative Dialogue For World Language Teachers 09
Foreign Language teachers from area schools and Mid-Michigan Community College are invited to participate in this discussion/work group. Teachers will share best practices and enjoy an evening of professional development and conversations with colleagues. Updates on the K-12 World Language requirements will be provided.
           Instructional Coaches´ Training
This professional learning will provide instruction and support for implementation fidelity of evidence-based instruction and intervention in literacy and mathematics. Learning will include utilization of student achievement data to impact instructional decision-making, facilitation of teacher study groups, in-district professional development, and effective modeling, observation, and feedback strategies.
           MI-Continuous School Improvement [A]
MDE has developed a set of new templates and tools for school improvement planning efforts in Michigan. In this series, school teams will work with the new Comprehensive Needs Assessments, SIP template, and MDE/Advanc-ed website to accomplish the following:

           New Teacher Survival Series 2009-2010
Designed for teachers in their first three years of teaching, but open to all teachers. Teachers will learn practical strategies that can be implemented immediately back in their classrooms. Topics include: Classroom management, parent-teacher conferences, curriculum development, assessment, vocabulary instruction, integration of technology and teacher certification.
           Tools For Teaching Vocabulary - Book Study 2010 [A]
Rigor and accountability continue to intensify for all academic areas. Clare-Gladwin RESD will offer our summer book study of Inside Words – Tools For Teaching Academic Vocabulary Grades 4-12, by Janet Allen. In Inside Words, Janet Allen merges recent research and key content-area teaching strategies to show teachers how to help students understand vocabulary in all content areas. Local educators will participate in thought-provoking discussions and review researched based strategies they can implement immediately. In addition to dialogue sessions, some online work will be required to fulfill class requirements. A CD-ROM of printable graphic organizers is included in the book. An alternate book will be available for K-3 teachers.
