Making Connections: Teaching Writing and Teaching Readers to Write about Reading - 112
|
In this session, we’ll examine award –winning children’s literature that will help teach reading strategies across the content areas and provide motivating models to improve student performance in writing. Through the use of literature (fiction and non-fiction), the importance of thinking critically and making connections while reading and writing will be demonstrated through a variety of “reader response” activities. Participants will become actively involved in the reading/writing process and be able to facilitate activities in their classrooms leading to successful comprehension of literary and informational text. Bring your favorite children’s book!
