This hands-on middle school mathematics workshop will offer activities and strategies to use in teaching measurement and geometry concepts. Investigations in both measurement and geometry topics will include explorations of concepts through the use of materials, manipulatives, pictures, symbols, vocabulary and teaching strategies. Interpreting charts, tables and graphs will be included. Experiences and activities in geometry should allow for intuitive investigations of concepts and relationships. Geometric thinking and spatial reasoning are key ideas that will be explored.
