           Challenging the Gifted 2009 [A]
CHALLENGING THE GIFTED 2009

This year’s gifted conference will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Jack Naglieri. His keynote address “Identification of Gifted Minority Children Using Nonverbal Ability Tests,” will focus on how greater attention is being given to increasing the representation of minority children in gifted programs. One approach which has been advocated is the addition of a nonverbal measure of general ability to the selection method. In this presentation I will discuss what a nonverbal test measures and how inclusion of this type of an ability test can lead to an increase in the numbers of minority children who would be eligible for gifted educational programs. This talk will include historical, theoretical, and practical considerations and research evidence from the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test which illustrates how more minority children can be identified.

EVERYONE MUST SELECT ALL INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS WHEN YOU FIRST REGISTER. You can not go back later and add a session. All sessions must be chosen at the time of registration.
