Balanced Literacy

Audience: K-8 Teachers.
This workshop is for educators who would like a review of the balanced literacy components. We will begin with read alouds, which will be modeled and then created. Then, there will be an overview of guided reading and its components. After that, we will show how to conduct a shared reading lesson using scaffold instruction. The next component will be independent reading and how to monitor this for comprehension and stamina. Finally we will discuss vocabulary and how to pick words that are tier two from Isabel Beck´s book "Robust Vocabulary."
