Audience:
K-12 Current and prospective literacy coaches, teacher leaders, and staff developers
Course Narrative:
The Literacy Coach Network will provide training and support for B.A.I.S.D. literacy coaches and learning leaders. The training and monthly network meetings will be a venue for learning new information, sharing ideas, and promoting literacy in our region. **Educators who attend this series will receive a current resource book on Literacy Coaching.
Course Objectives:
- Participants will increase understanding of the roles and responsibilities of coaches, the change process, relationships, building literacy teams and how to deal with district mandates.
- Participants will be exposed to strategies for successful coaching, developing relationships and trust, and providing support that includes talking, thinking and processing with others.
- Participants will increase understanding of how adult learners learn.
- Participants will be provided with tools to meet the many and varied roles of a literacy coach, such as:
- Preparing for Professional Development Sessions
- Leading Data Analysis Sessions
- Leading Study Groups
- Finding Resources
- Conversations On-the-Fly
- Organizing Peer-Coaching
- Assisting with Action Research
- Doing Modeling and Demonstration
- Teaching
- Analyzing Data
