Michigan Model for Health® Event for Grades 4-12 HIV/AIDS Certification Workshop 2-17-2010

Audience:
Any teacher responsible for teaching HIV/AIDS education

Course Narrative:
HIV/AIDS education is required in Michigan. This workshop will also meet the state requirement that any teacher engaged in HIV/AIDS education must receive training.Topics will include the law, effective curriculum, and hands on activities.

Course Objectives:
4-12 AIDS Certification Training focuses on:

  • Science of AIDS transmission
  • Exploring attitudes necessary for teaching AIDS
  • Skills for answering students´ sensitive questions
  • Classroom discussion tips
  • Curriculum scope and sequence for AIDS Education and resource overview
  • Stories from the Quilt: People Living with HIV/AIDS
