Audience:
Fourth-Fifth grade teachers and support staff who implement the elementary Michigan Model for Health® Curriculum
Course Narrative:
This overview training will focus on the six themes framing the revised Michigan Model for Health® Curriculum; nutrition and physical activity, social and emotional health, personal health and wellness, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, safety and HIV education.
Course Objectives:
Participants will:
- Create an understanding of philosophy and goals of the revised Michigan Model for Health®
- Examine the newly revised (2006) grade level manuals, and materials
- Disseminate current health content information; particularly in the area of nutrition
- Develop a comfort level for using the revised curriculum manual
- Preview instructional materials used in the curriculum
- Connect the implementation of school health education across Michigan’s core content areas.
