Course Narrative:
SCASS/HEAP stands for the State Collaborative on Assessment of Student Standards Health Education Assessment Program. This database of items is an extremely useful tool for creating assessment exams for your required health education programs and for creating pre/post tests to evaluate your sex education program. All schools with an approved sex education program are required by law to evaluate the program for changes in knowledge and skills that are likely to reduce the rates of sex, pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Participants can bring their own laptop or use one that is provided. If you are bringing your school´s laptop, ask your tech person to remove anything that would prevent you from downloading the database. You will receive a CD of all the assessment items and tools that you can download to your school´s computer.
Note: The SCASS/HEAP database consists of secured test items used
in many states to assess health education. A security agreement with each user is required. Only
teachers responsible for health education can sign the agreement but they can share it with other
health teachers in their school.
