Dare to Prepare - New Driver Safety Program For Teens & Their Parents
Dare To Prepare is a 90-minute pre-permit presentation for parents and teens that provides critical information teens need to know before they take the wheel. This presentation walks attendees through the steps necessary to obtain a permit and a driver´s license, and offers useful tools to help parents and teens through the learning-to-drive process.
Leaps & Bounds Kindergarten Readiness ´World as a Classroom´ 4-Class Series

This is a 4-class interactive class. Parents are encouraged to bring their children with them to participate. Please register for all 4 classes in the series.
The Leaps and Bounds Program educates and supports parents by providing a research based program designed to increase parental involvement in the home and to help parents get their children ready for school. The goal of the Leaps and Bounds program is to ensure that children are entering school ready to learn and to increase the likelihood that they will become productive citizens later in life. This program focuses on the readiness skills of pre-kindergartners. Activities in each area of the house focus on children between 3 and 5 years of age; however, these activities can be applied to children of various backgrounds and age groups.

Parenting The Gifted Child
This class is open to all parents of Gifted learners grades 1-12 who have been tested and determined to be gifted. The class will address characteristic traits of Gifted learners, and helpful hints for academic and personal success. The instructor will also speak about transitioning from elementary-to-middle, middle-to-high school, and high school-to-college. Gifted learners are invited to join their parents in the class. Child care will be provided for other children as needed (Please e-mail bpurcell@ajusd.org to reserve your child care spot, including number of children and their ages).
Understanding Addition and Subtraction for Primary Grades K-2
This workshop is to help parents understand the role of mental arithmetic in developing numerical reasoning. The parents will experience the kinds of lessons that help children learn basic facts in meaningful contexts and through reasoning rather than rote memorization and isolated drill. This workshop focuses on ways to help children become fluent with small numbers and emphasizes the importance of such fluency as a foundation for working with larger numbers. The class is geared to parents of K-2 students.
Understanding Fractions Across The Grades (3rd to 5th)
Participants will experience a fun hands-on approach to fractions appropriate to elementary grades 3rd to 5th. They will develop an understanding of the concept of fractions and the relationships between fractions in a way that will allow them to better help their students grasp the concept of fractions.
