Criteria for Eligibility

Note: Refer to the Non-Traditional SB-CEU Offerings list at the end of this course description for important information.

The following are the criteria for eligibility as provided by the Michigan Department of Education.

1. Three (3.0) SB-CEUs may be earned for supervising a school counselor for a full placement period of not less than 300 clock hours as determined by the sponsoring college/university.
2. Three (3.0) SB-CEUs may be earned for supervising a preliminary school psychologist certificate holder for not less than 300 clock hours.
3. A supervising counselor/psychologist must provide documentation of being assigned to serve as a supervising counselor/school psychologist to the building principal along with an evaluation of the supervision process for the application period.
4. The signature of the building principal on the verification form will provide verification of the successful completion of the professional development assignment.

ALL registrants must download, complete, and submit the following Participant Verification Form (in Microsoft Word format) to the team chairperson to be eligible for the 3.0 SB-CEUs offered.

Open and use the form that was just downloaded to your computer.

Non-Traditional SB-CEU Offerings

A maximum of 9.0 SB-CEUs earned in each activity in a five-year period can be used toward certificate renewal.

• New Teacher Mentor
• Supervision of School Counselor/Psychologist Required Practicum/Internship
• Serving on a K-12 School Improvement Team
• New Principal Mentor
• School Committee Meetings
