Criteria for Eligibility

Note: Refer to the Non-Traditional SB-CEU Offerings list at the end of this course description for important information.

The following are the criteria for eligibility as provided by the Michigan Department of Education.

  1. Three (3.0) SB-CEUs may be awarded for a full school year. Partial credit is not allowed. An applicant cannot earn more than 3 SB-CEUs per school year, regardless of the number of different assigned committees. Partial credit is not allowed. Mixing and matching of committee meetings is not allowed.
  2. School committees must meet a minimum of six (6) times during the school year.
  3. Participants must have verified attendance at a minimum of 3/4 of the scheduled committee meetings, but not less than six meetings, to be eligible for SB-CEUs.
  4. The signature of the committee chairperson on the verification form will provide verification of the successful completion of the committee´s activities.

Participant Verification Form

ALL registrants must download, complete, and submit the following Participant Verification Form (in Microsoft Word format) to the team chairperson to be eligible for the 3.0 SB-CEUs offered.

Note: To download the form, do the following:

  1. Right-click on the form name link
  2. Choose Save As...
  3. Save the file somewhere on your computer (typically the My Documents folder)

Open and use the form that was just downloaded to your computer.

Committee Chairperson Downloads

It is strongly recommended that each committee chairperson download and use the following sign-in sheet for every committee meeting.


Non-Traditional SB-CEU Offerings

A maximum of 9.0 SB-CEUs earned in each activity in a five-year period can be used toward certificate renewal.

  • Supervision of Student Teacher/Teacher Intern
  • New Teacher Mentor
  • Supervision of School Counselor/Psychologist Required Practicum/Internship
  • Serving on a K-12 School Improvement Team
  • New Principal Mentor
  • School Committee Meetings
