TARGET AUDIENCE:
DC MYP Certified Teachers

DESCRIPTION:

IB MYP teachers will look at MYP assessments with a focus on instructional pratices that will prepare students for their future in the 21st Century. Participants will be challenged to re-think their attitudes on how we use assessment and question how students react to current assessment practices and how they might react if we change said practices.

LEARNER OBJECTIVES:

Participants will . . . .

  • recognize how MYP objectives correlate to assessment criteria,
  • compare MYP objectives and Assessment Criteria with current educational research and best practice,
  • and identify and explain aspects of effective MYP assessment tasks.

STRATEGIES & ACTIVITIES:

Participants will . . . .

    1. "unpack" objectives and assessment criteria to determine appropriate knowledge, skills and understanding for their subject area and level, and
    2. develop an appropriate assessment task for specified objectives using correlating assessment criteria.
