TARGET AUDIENCE:
DCSD Certified teachers

This course is designed for Douglas County employees that currently have Notebook software installed on their computer. Notebook software from SMART is a free download for anyone in Douglas County and can be used on a computer with a projector or with interactive Smart slates and Smart boards. Each of our DCSD employees has the ability to download and use this software.

In this course participants will gain a knowledge base of what skills our 21st century learners need to have to survive in today´s classrooms. Participants will learn how to effectively create interactive lessons using the Notebook software.

Participants will:

  • work with Notebook software as an interactive classroom presentation tool
  • create lessons for classroom use in Notebook software
  • collaborate with others to discuss article center around 21st century learning
  • download pre-made Notebook lessons provided by Smart´s website for classroom use

PREREQUSITES:

  • Ability to start up and shut down my computer.
  • Efficient use of the computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Be able to create, name/rename, and organize files and folders.
  • Be able to find and retrieve a document from the hard drive.
  • Be able to save and retrieve files on the network.
  • Be able to manage multiple windows on the desktop.
  • Know how to delete files and empty the trash (recycle bin).
  • Know how to find and use the help function.
  • Know how to backup and retrieve copies of documents.
  • Ease in use of software from the hard drive, a CD-ROM, and a network.
  • Know how to access and retrieve information from onlin resources.
  • Ability to open and work with more than one application at a time.
  • Be able to create, save, revise, and print a document.
  • Understand how to troubleshoot printing problems.
  • Know how to quit (exit) an application correctly.
  • Be able to send and reply to email documents.
