TARGET AUDIENCE:
DCSD On-line Teachers
  • Many teachers struggle with the paradigm shift necessary to move from teaching face-to-face to teaching in an on-line or mostly on-line environment. This training will help create that shift and provide participants with concrete skills for success.
  • Participants in this course will create their own personal learning networks, collaborate and create content with Web 2.0 tools, create authentic and interactive assessment options for their students to help reduce the failure rate and engender critical thinking in on-line students.

1. Personal Learning Networks (PLNs) for teachers & students

2. Demo / Explain: Feeds and feed reader

3. Teacher Workflow

4. Student Workflow

5. Learning Objects - Tool Acquisition

SESSION 2: Choosing, Managing and Creating On-line Course Materials

1. Hands on: Individual & Small Group Work

2. Synchronous vs. Asynchronous (but interactive) Learning Spaces

3. Teaching content, not technology

4. Online assessment

SESSION 3: On-line Safety, Conduct and Considerations

1. Concept: Continuum of open to closed options for on-line courses

2. Discussion & Activities re: Pros & Cons of different types of on-line offerings

3. Copyright, Internet Safety, On-line Course Behavior Expectations
