Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) REFRESHER Autism Emphasis
This is a specialized two night refresher offered to staff with current certification who want to incorporate more preventative interventions such as TEACCH methodology and who want more practice in therapeutic rapport as an intervention to develop problem solving strategies collaboratively with their students.

Instructional Contact Hours = 8 hours

The numbers of challenging students and the severity of their behaviors are increasing. Recognizing, understanding, and intervening in escalating behaviors is a necessary skill for all staff who may be faced with challenging behaviors.

This class is a REFRESHER for those who have already completed
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) initial course within the last school year.

This interactive class reviews how to recognize stages of escalating behavior and how to respond effectively to stop the escalation cycle. Participants review specific strategies for assisting both students and staff in alternative behaviors to avoid future escalation of behaviors. Verbal de-escalation is stressed. In the rare event that the student becomes physically aggressive, physical restraint is taught and practiced as a last resort strategy.

The instructors are master level trainers certified by Crisis Prevention Intervention, Inc. CPI is an internationally recognized program that offers support for schools, law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and residential facilities.

Certification from Crisis Prevention Intervention, Inc. will be granted by the instructor to all who complete course and pass the assessment.
