- Many teachers struggle with the paradigm shift necessary to move from teaching face-to-face to teaching in an on-line or mostly on-line environment. This training will help create that shift and provide participants with concrete skills for success.
- Participants in this course will create their own personal learning networks, collaborate and create content with Web 2.0 tools, create authentic and interactive assessment options for their students to help reduce the failure rate and engender critical thinking in on-line students.

Notebook software from SMART is a free download for anyone in Douglas County and can be used on a computer with a projector or with interactive Smart slates and Smart boards. Each of our DCSD employees has the ability to download and use this software.
In this course participants will gain a knowledge base of what skills our 21st century learners need to have to survive in today´s classrooms. Participants will learn how to effectively create interactive lessons using the Notebook software.
Participants will:
- work with Notebook software as an interactive classroom presentation tool
- create lessons for classroom use in Notebook software
- collaborate with others to discuss article center around 21st century learning
- download pre-made Notebook lessons provided by Smart´s website for classroom use
PREREQUSITES:
- Ability to start up and shut down my computer.
- Efficient use of the computer keyboard and mouse.
- Be able to create, name/rename, and organize files and folders.
- Be able to find and retrieve a document from the hard drive.
- Be able to save and retrieve files on the network.
- Be able to manage multiple windows on the desktop.

- Know how to delete files and empty the trash (recycle bin).
- Know how to find and use the help function.
- Know how to backup and retrieve copies of documents.

- DESCRIPTION:
On January 23, 2009, the DCHS feeder will be hosting a LIFT conference entitled, "LIFT Elements to Activate a Culture of Thinking and Inquiry." This class is a "training of trainers" designed for the teachers who are presenting at the conference.
Course Info:
Teachers will develop a shared understanding of a culture of thinking and inquiry. Teachers will plan their LIFT presentations incorporating a culture of thinking and inquiry.
Ellin Keene will be presenting information on the Culture of Thinking and Iquiry. Teachers will work in small groups with other presenters to discuss articles and Ellin´s presentation.
